Changed my brakes in June (idrive said 6000 miles until replacement did change anyway) had no problem with service overdue indicator coming up in idrive or dash until yesterday... My dad changed my brake fluid for me and I did the reset from the odometer button all went well until I pressed the button to many times and now I have Service Overdue front break wear very low -1000miles.. I did the reset again and its still there. Drove for over an hour to work this morning and did the reset again at work still at -1000 miles... sensor and pads changed in June.. should I remove the sensor again and put it back on after a few minutes or does my car have to go into BMW for a reset.

Also does anyone know of a shop on long island that will reset it..?

Jil

Search around there are about 100 threads on this, there is s reset for all the service intervals, probably Gene will insert a link. No need to go spend $$ unnecessarily.

Your certain you got a new sensor?

Hmm if you did, I would try resetting the warning one more time. If you put new pads and a sensor on I see no reason for it doing that. Does the sensor look to be worn at all?

Yeah did do the search which lead to me to resetting the brake fluid reset but in error i reset the next service which was due in 6000 miles (even though the brakes and sensors are new with 2000 miles on them) and it defaulted from the 6000 positive miles to a negative 9000 miles.Thats why I'm asking for help...

Thanks anyway for your response....

Yes, I bought the breaks and the sensors new back in June.. The sensor looks fine and has worked as it should since june until I did the break fluid change last night and inadvertly reset the break service indicated that wasnt looking for service.

I'm going to have my dad remove the wheel when i get home then put it back on to see if it triggers anything....

Thanks for your response...
