I payed about £90 for my dealer to change the brake fluid on my car. It comes up every two years as a service item.

Usually the brake fluid should be flushed every year. Not sure why he said red to yellow, but maybe clear to brown. We can flush the brake fluid. You can PM me or call me at 949-241-5623.

brake fluid is hygroscopic meaning it will attract water and water is bad for your brake system. It will corrode the components if not taken care of. If the brake master was easily accessible I would say remove the cap and you would see green stuff growing on your float. This is not good.

Brake fluid flush will help ensure good operation of your hydraulic system. Check for your dealer's on-line specials ... they run quite often. Here's an example of one from the right coast ... http://www.bmwofturnersville.com/bmw...-sid-6695.html

Or, as an alternative, find an experienced BMW Independent mechanic (NOT MIDAS or SEARS!!).

His friends are referring to the iDrive warning that is yellow (it doesn't turn red I don't think). Brake fluid change is every two years according to BMW which is when the warning will come up.

You can pay to change the fluid now or pay to replace brake components later.
