Hi Everyone, brand new here, looking forward to checking the place out! I have an issue I need some input on. I just got a 2009 535xi. It's already got the JB3 with DCI. Today I had some replica 19" M5 rims installed (8.5"F/9.5"R) with Yokohama S Drives (245/35/19)(275/30/19). While driving home, the DSC was coming on almost every time I accelerated beyond 3/4 throttle. It got so bad I had to turn it off. There was obviously no wheel spin as the pavement was dry. Does anyone know what would be causing this? Other than that, it seems fine, there is no rubbing at all. The front end does seem to "float" a bit, but I figured that was due to the wider fronts. Thanks, and I'll post pics once the friggin rain stops!

You can run staggered on Xi, just have to calculate your overall wheel diameters and make sure that front and back overall diameters are not more than a "few" millimeters difference. I.e. if your fronts are 653mm (for example), your back should not be more than 670mm TOPS!!! You have to try to match the tires as much as possible so that the overall diameters of the front and back wheels are as close to each other as humanly possible. Google "wheel size calculator".

What you're refering to is the differential problems (I think it was the differential) that some members reported after running staggered without matching front and back overall diameters. So two things:

1. YOU ARE MISTAKEN. IT IS POSSIBLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RUN STAGGERED ON Xi (Ask DrLev99 and C'sBimmer!)

2. Problems will start if you have different overall tire diameters front and back and wheels will be turning at different rates, thus messing up the sensors for torque distribution front to back and eventually throwing all kinds of errors related to differential...

Is it possible your installer got tangled up in some wiring in the wheel area? Maybe a connector is loose or something like that. As noted, xi's can run staggered wheel/tire set-ups. Also, while it's not likely related did you buy wheels with the correct offset - it's different for awd e60s.

The place I bought them said they must be for the xi only. Discount Tire ran a calculator on the new set up and came up with the backs being 1/10 of an inch taller. Is that my problem?

Just curious, but what were the offsets of those wheels? Being that you have an XI, you can't use the standard RWD offsets for an E60. Just curious if you got the proper wheel specs since you have the XI.

Congrats on the car, btw!

These are the specs I got:

Hub: 72.6

Offset: 38 mm front 38 mm rear

If you had the tires mounted on the wheels on the same day, it is possible the lubricant that is put on tires during mounting is causing them to spin on rims. Usually the lubricant dries during the next day.

Really? That's a scary thought!

I forgot to mention that the gap in the wheel well is noticeably smaller in the rear. I figured it would look the same or the difference would not be noticeable. Any thoughts?
