I have 42k miles on my 2007 525i and iDrive still shows 13k miles left with the brake pads. I have had the car since new and to my knowledge pad are still original; should I trust the iDrive or get brakes checked. Yes, I have still free maintenance till 50k miles or August 10'.

My recommendation is that at your next scheduled service (what ever it is) you mention to your SA that iDrive is reporting 50K potential miles before a brake service is required. And "suggest" in a curious sort of way that it seems like a lot of miles and to be safe and not sorry would the tech actually measure brake pad thickness ??

My Dealer did because on my '07 530xi iDrive would indicate that I'd get 60K+ miles out of the front pads and about 50K from the rears. They measured and reported pad thickness (in MM ) on the service report showing lots of meat left on the pads and rotors in similar good shape (NO CHARGE). My car has the extended BMW maintenance agreement so I'm good for 6 years and 100K miles.
