brake squeel....help
hi all
getting annoyed with brakes, they always squeel under 20mph and i dont know which it is.
i-drive shows 12k for front and 6k for rear
could it be the caliper and pds need cleaning and re-greasing? ws thinking about doing this and replacing the rea pads at the same time as ive got them open
what you reckon lads???

Last week a member posted a similar situation. His idrive stated all was well but he nsisted the dealer actually measure the rotors and brakes. Turned out both front and rear brakes (rotors as well) were below standar and replaced free. I suspect that you may have the same issue. If your still under the maintenance plan insist that the dealer inspect the brakes.

I had the same problem very loud squeeling when coming to a slow stop. Only had the noise if I was using the brakes. took it to the dealer, they replaced all the pads, no more noise.
hi all
mines a 2004 and its maintence pack has expired due to the miles
Discs do have a lip, but dont look that bad
I might just change the pads and clean everything

Here's a two second fix roll your windows up squeek goes away. You are not the only Bmw on the road with the squeeks
This squeek is coming from the brake sensor ... I hear BMW has new sensor's that do not squeek

I had a similar problem on my '05 525 where the brakes ALWAYS squealed when coming to a stop. It sounded like a damn city bus. I took it to the dealer and they replaces all 4 rotors and pads. I pulled out of the dealership and it started squealing again. I drove back into their service bay and coasted through (about 100 ft with my foot lightly on the brake and got EVERYONE'S attention. They agreed to go the aftermarket brake route after that, butone of the mechanics applied a brake glue of some sort to the pads and they've never made a noise since (15,000 miles or so).

Clean contact face (3) of brake caliper and apply a thin coating of antisqueak
compound.
Clean brake caliper mounting bracket at hammer head guides and
apply a thin coating of anti-squeak compound.
"Do it right the first time."
I had the same problem, bmw told its not covered under warranty or under the maintenance package, i thought that was crap so searched on here and found a bmw service bulletin saying on a customer complaint basis for squeaking brakes replace brake pads, wear sensors, discs and rotors on squeaking axle, search for the bulletin im sure you will find it, then take it to your dealer and get it fixed for free
