my brakes are not ready to be changed but ive had a squeal since ive picked up the car in july. sometines during normal driving and almost always when i first touch the brake pedal. its not a normal low brake pad noise its more of a high pitched, nails on chalk board sound. anyone dealing with this?

I have the same exact problem. When I first touch the brake, my right rear pads squeak. I have been to BMW numerous times who have told me my brakes are fine ! Since the rear brake sensor is back there, I think this might be causing the squeal.

I had this problem a few months back, it was the faulty sensors that were causing the noise. I took it into servicing and they replaced all of my brake pads. There is a thread about this showing a actual bmw bulletin type paper on this as a common issue. If anything take that to the dealer just in case. For me, I made sure when i pulled up to the line that everyone could hear my problem haha. Hope this helps you out, good luck.

I had a similar noise on my 07 530i. Complained to the dealer and they replaced the rear sensors.

Every once in a while it will still squeal under light braking, but a good hard stomp on the brakes will take care of it for a while. I've also noticed that it happens more when brake dust accumulates, so be sure to spray it out good when you wash the car.

My car squeeled today a ton at red lights. I feel embarrassed to have some crazy squealing that sounds like some old piece of junk car when I stop.
