Hi Guys,
I recently encountered a strange behavior with my 05/E60/51K and would like to see if anybody has any experience.
The remaining miles on the front brakes reading reach about 2K miles left (I can't remembered when was last service since it is been a while) so I am considering to replace them soon. However, one day, it suddenly jump back to 5K. I was curious how it happens that way.
So I asked the BMW dealer to have a check. I was surprised that the brake is still about 11mm left. According to the dealer, a new brake will measure at about 13 to 14mm and a weared out one should read at about 3mm. The dealer mentioned there are two indepenent sensors that will work together to determine how much the miles should be left. When I asked why it is not showing 10K mile left then? The dealer can not answer anymore.
I am looking for some expertise here to explain why it is only showing 5K with 11mm left on front brake.
thanks,
Zdu.

have you checked the condition of your wear sensor? be careful when you remove it as it is easy to break.
