Hey All,

I've noticed on my 2007 E60 that I can hear what sounds like the brakes rattling if I drive over potholes or rough road surfaces when I have windows down. Car has been in for inspection recently and everything checked out ok.
Is this normal?

Check your brake pad retaining clips, both inner and outer ones.

I'd be willing to bet money it's coming from your inner pad. The inner pads have retaining springs so that they can held snug inside the brake piston. Sometimes these clips/springs come loose and starts rattling against the rotor. Simple test, remove the wheel on the side where the noise is coming from and see if you can wiggle the inner pad with your fingers. If it moves around freely without any tension, the springs are loose inside. Good luck!
