Hi,

Yesterday, I noticed that the brake vibrated/pulsed during the braking at 40 mph and slower. Car has not been driven for a week due to the snow storm in New England. I had done a few hard braking to try to get rid of the rust on the rotor/brake pads. However, vibration/pulsing still exists during braking. The vibration/pulsing was definitely not from the engagement of ABS.

Could the front rotors are wrapped ? If they are, I would be very about BMW part's quality because the car has only 1500 miles on it and it is only 2 months old.

Any comments is appreciated.

Rotors get warped after you hold your brakepedal at the trafficlight with very hot rotors. 1500 miles is very little mileage to have such a problem.

Does you car do this with braking only?? It could also be the runflat tires..

It only happens with braking only. How can I tell that I have run flat tires ??

Thanks,

It says RFT or DSST on the sidewalls of the tires.

If you have runflats this could be the cause of the problem. My car was sitting in the garage 3 days and after I started driving it the car vibrated (not only during braking). After 10 minutes it goes away gradually because the tires warm up.

But it is still possible you have warped rotors if it only occurs during braking.

Thanks for the infomation. I just made an appointment with the dealer. If it is the rotors, I would really not believe the quality of BMW parts. It is way too soon for a rotor to warp. My Volvo front rotors lasted for 70,000 miles in New England weather. My wife is not going to like this :-(

Rotors can also warp if the wheel bolts were torqued incorrectly, to very high values. All bolts should be at around 120Nm.
