Hi,

My brake pad indicator light came on.

Most likely fronts, they always go first.

Since the warranty is up on my 2004 545i I need to pay myself.

Here is the question:

I want some pads that don't leave my nice fat lips as dusty as the OEM pads. On the other hand they can absolutely not squek or have less braking power.

I know this is a trade off. The last set of low dust pads I bought worked well and produced vitually no dust but squeked like hell.

Any ideas?

I'm using EBC 'Greenstuff'..... no squeal, no (very marginal) dust, although they are only suitable for city driving (ie no track days).

Very happy with them although hot weather performance a little less than OEM, but no jerking to a stop as with OEM.

Cheers

4 Months ago I replaced my filthy Volvo stock organic pads with Akebono Euro Ceramics: http://www.akebonobrake.com/company/media_.../041102_01.html

Also put on new Brembo rotors at the same time.

With the stock pads, the wheel were dark brown in a week after cleaning the wheels. After 4 months the wheels were still clean with the Akebonos. A very light amount of tan dust is only noticable when you wipe the wheels.

Braking was better than stock - smooth, but with a nice bite when hard pedal pressure applied. And absolutely silent. Not a single squeal since they were installed.

I don't know how they'd do on a BMW, but I certainly can recommend them based on my experience with them.

I have my Axxis Deluxe Pads sitting in my garage waiting for my new 550 to be delivered. I have them on my 06 and LOVE them. Virtually no brake dust at all.
