Ok guys, sorry to post such a newbie question! I recently got the replace front pads on the idrive and then followed the brake light on the dash. So, I ordered some Hawk HPS pads and it came with two sensors. I installed the pads myself along with the sensor for the front. I reset on the dash and it now shows updated mileage. However, my idrive is still not resetting. Is this because BOTH sensors need to be replaced, as in the front and back even though I did not touch the back? This would make sense as it comes with two sensors and BMWs only have one on the front and one on the back. I just wanted to make sure!

Any help is appreciated!

Only need to replace the sensor that is worn. sometime you have to reset a couple times to get the full 30 k

Make sure you properly bed the brakes!

Hi Mike. I definitely bed the brakes. WOuld an improper imbedding cause the sensor not to reset? The reset to 30,0000 took, however the iDrive alert did not reset, thus causing the brake light to reappear on the dash...

That sounds more like it could be more of a brake fluid level issue or the float may be stuck in the low position. Then again it would not be in the idrive. Picture? what does it say exactly?

No it wouldn't just a side note. Sometimes people forget and complain about the quality of the pads.

It's just the typical warning message that states that the front brake pads are below the required levels and to take it to BMW for replacement. I was under the assumption that the sensors spoke with the iDrive system after replacement and this warning message would go away. The brake fluid level is fine. It's really weird. I went through the reset on the dash, the new miles show as 30,000, the brake light on the dash goes out, I then shutoff the ignition, restart and iDrive warning pops back up about the pads, then the red brake light on the dash lights up again...

Mike,

Just as you had explained, the brake pads are awesome! I have had no brake dust issue whatsoever! That alone was worth the $100.

Can you explain or point to how this is done?
