would it be best to just paint the whole calipers?
only crossed my mind because i just bought a new set of rims+tyres and it looks like theres just something missing. but i havent seen a photo of them on an actual car so i'm not convinced

Check out hte DIY section for painting Brake Calipers.
I did the DIY made by "kooger" I think, not quite sure, but basically, you paint the Caliper Black with the word "BMW" inscribed in white.
Looks really good with my 124s.
Try to search for it

it's not the color that everyone is commenting on.... it's the cheap plastic cover.
Go ahead and paint your calipers as you wish (black, red, yellow, Gold).... it's your taste. But do not try to imitate other brands by adding some cheap plastic. Be proud to have a car that every other brand has been trying to imitate and compete with.
Believe me, go to the DIY section and look up the thread I was talking about
You ll change your mind about labeling your calipers Brembo

oh i dont doubt that. but the problem is finding the time to do it and the downtime needed for the job. need the car for work on a daily basis more or less.
