Brake Booster Recall - Again
In regards to my 05 E60 545i -
Late last week I had the dreaded stiff/wooden brake pedal feel. I immediately went to the BMW service center in San Francisco and they told me that the brake booster was already fixed in 2011 because of recall. So I asked them if they will replace it again, Service Adviser told me they have to do a diagnostics first at $195, fine, but they wont be able to even touch the car till next week...lovely.
I was thinking of heading to Fremont since thats where I bought the car and hopefully get this done so I gave them a call and they mentioned that they can work on it next week Thursday and also give me a courtesy vehicle. So this is where I stand right now, booked on Thursday next week and still stuck with the stiff brake pedal feel.
What do you guys think? Will they actually do the recall again? I'm worried that they wont and it'll set me back $1500. On another note...when I drive in the sequential shift mode it's easier to brake. The pedal is only stiff sometimes and manually selecting the gears seems to be the temporary patch. I heard somewhere that it is bad to keep using the sequential shift alot...can someone verify that for me?
Thanks for reading all of this, super frustrated right now...only had the car for 6 months

No. When they recall a part, it's replaced with a new/improved version of the original, usually with a part number that supersedes the original recalled part. The only reason they would or should replace the part again, is if the new version is recalled again...or if their work in replacing it caused the problem you are experiencing.
If the replacement part had a recall issued against it, you would know about it.
