I have heard good reviews of it from people and from bmwland.co.uk so i decided to put ?25 in. It costs 90p, 10p more than regular diesel.

My conclusion is that it makes no difference to comsumption, performance and smoothness of the engine.

That's because the smoothness of BMW engines is hard to improve

Also, I think you'll have to run more than a single tank before you jump to conclusions. I plan to do some testing myself shortly.

When I was a student, I worked in a Mobil petrol station ( fuel pump operator and part-time mechanic ) - back then was when fuel companies came out with this
" enhanced fuel " super duper, ultimate fuel, etc.

When my boss asked Mobil if there were in fact any chemical difference with
the other stuff, the answer was : "not really, but it's great marketing! ".

Nowadays, maybe the quality is slightly better - but personally, I still think it's a beautiful ripoff. Since I hit the fuel consumption and performance figures with my car using 98octane..why use ultimate? Guess it's the same with diesel.

IMHO

I'm still working through all the options of Shell Diesel Extra, BP Ultimate and now Esso Energy with and without Millers. So far, they all enhance the performance over the regular equivalent (slightly) and they are markedly better than plain supermarket stuff, but the biggest single improvement comes from the Miller's additive.

It does take several tankfuls before you can make a reasonable assessment because the differences can be so slight. I am certain now that my consumption remains the same irrespective of what goes in the tank. My guess is that much of the enhancements are more noticeable in lower tuned and older diesel engines which have had a chance to build up crud in the fuel lines and injectors etc.

So far, I have found the very best performance to come from Shell Diesel Extra plus Millers on a very cold and misty morning. Shell remains my favourite because they don't charge more for it.
