Just filled the car yesterday with BP Ultimate diesel by mistake, cursed when I realised it was ?1.27 per litre!! until I started driving it.
I am totally amazed at the improvement in performance and smoothness I really would'nt have thought it could make that much difference.
I have tried the Optimax etc in petrol cars and the improvement was marginal to unnoticable.
It looks like my running costs have just gone up unless I get better milage...will find out over the next couple of days.

1.27 per litre!!!! Bloody Hell!!!
I think I'll stick with my bargain basement 1.14 per litre for the time being.
Do you think the performance gains could be all in the mind?

Whew, I thought you filled up a gasoline/petrol engine with diesel fuel and your car ran smoother.
?1.27 is a lot!!!!!!!
Assuming ?1 = US$2, that's $2.54/liter or $9.65 per gallon.
For comparison, I think diesel here is just over $4 per gallon. So you guys are paying twice for everything.

I used to only fill up with BP Ultimate and was so addicted to it that I actually made POIs on my Nav to point me to all the BP stations that had Ultimate (because not all have them). But then I switched back and didn't notice. So put it down to 'a feeling' that I now can live without.

Diesel at the Shell station on the motorway today: EUR 1.315 per litre..... locally from the no-brand, unmanned station: EUR 1.24/litre. And that is for the regular diesel, not premium (V-power in Shell terms) diesel.
When using v-power I only notice a difference in the bill, not in performance, sound or consumption.
Haven't tried any of the other brands' superdiesels.
I only take that golden stuff when I get something for it myself (like all Ferrari model racing cars, or bonus miles) out of it. The car doesn't seem to care.

With Shell Vpower diesel I didn't notice any difference but with BP Ultimate Diesel I can really notice.
Car runs much smoother and seems to have "slightly" better power but there's no way to check really. As I say, it feels much better so that's the main thing. I try not to use anything else but when I do I can tell.
My wife thought it ran better on BP Ultimate and she was only a passenger.
