bonnet wont open!
hi all,
took my car for MOT yesterday but the garage couldnt get the bonnet opened. the bonnet pops up on the passenger side but not the driver side.
I've done a search and found this post http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...4&hl=bonnet but no solution or cost offered.
Had a friend who works at BMW look at it, we went under the wheel arch and even took the front bumper off as much as possible but still couldnt get to the cable or the latch.
Can anyone offer any advice on this matter?
Thanks
Nick

Did you try to have someone put pressure on the bonnet directly over the latch when attempting to release? Maybe the latch is binding.
Have someone keep the (interior) release lever pulled while someone else gently presses down on the hood/bonnet near the latch. Sometimes they stick in the closed position even after the release is activated...
finally got the bonnet opened yesterday! using a diagram of the bonnet we were able to locate the cable and manged to get hold of it to open the bonnet. It appeared the cable was moved out of placed and not triggering the latch.really lucky cos the other options was to break the headlight or cut holes in the bonnet (altho that would have been a very good excuse for a new vorsteiner bonnet)
Hope no one else would have this problem but if you did you would need to take off the wheel and the plastic underlay and reach up to number 14 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...;fg=35&hl=2 and pull on the cable and hope for the best.
