Hi all
I noticed that when car magazines compare Automatic BMWs to equivalent Mercedes & Audis in terms of performance (In gear acceleration) they always quote lower figures (Faster) for Merc & Audi and they qualify these figures by writing (In Kickdown)
I assume that BMWs don't have a kickdown modes, so does that mean BMW will always lose out to other cars (from a roll)
Can someone please clarify

Who cares about the kickdown. When I want to go fast I just put the go pedal to the metal, far past kickdown point. BTW Audis are not faster than BMWs, MBs are faster but only high end models and only after they introduced E63 and E550.

A term used in auto tranny to shift down 2 gears gain higher rpm and reach max. HP, e.g., driving in 5th gear, a driver steps on the accelerator to the floor, the tranny shifts to 3rd (skps 4th), and then instance increase in rpm.
Thanks-

Of course try to feel that kickdown point with the engine off, don't want someone complaining to me then sue me for a blown engine on the driveway.
