If you do it, check the mileage before and after.
Do you have a lot of miles on your car? Any idea why they picked you?

I received that letter too. I don't think I will do it since they will probably put a lot of miles on the car, unless they use a transport to get it from San Diego to their testing center. I also doubt the loaner would be of equal or greater value. Let me know if you get any further details.

For me personally, $250.00, loaner car, and detail is not enough to use my E60 as a guinea pig.

Negotiate for a 750iL or 650 Cabrio for the loaner, cap on miles of say, 50 and it may be worth it.

Perhaps they are looking to see who's done the carbon filter mod If I got the letter I might actually do this, but surely they would have their own fleet of long term E60's that they could use for this purpose? Unless they are looking to compare their results with those from owners out in the wild.

How many miles on your car (at last dealer "reported" service)?

The letter sounded suspicious, that's why I wanted to know if anyone else got it too.
As far as how much mileage they would put on my car, I haven't a clue. However, the letter mentioned that the car would be tested indoors, so I suspect that they would put the car on a dyno-type equipment.
If this offer were legitimate, I am inclined to do it, not because of the freebies; which is not alot, since my monthly payment is over $1,000. I would do it to detect any emission irregularity that may pop up later on. I do own the car so it is important to me that the car will pass the SMOG test 5 years down the road.
I wish they'd offer me a comparable loaner, but I suspect that it would be an X3. So, no M5's nor 7 series, if so, I would do it even without any monetary compensation.
Anyone else got the letter?

Can you scan and post the letter so we can see what kind of scam, er, ahem, I mean deal BMW is offering you? (Redacting any personal/confidential info first, of course.)
