Got the letter last week. Probem seems to be a software communication error between the transmission control module and certain generic scan tool equipment is interrupted. The fix is a reprogram of the transmission control module with an improved version. It says if it not done, the car would fail a SMOG test. Dont no if should get it done since my first Smog inspection is after I turn the car in in November.

Is it purely a recall to deal with emissions issues, or are there possibly driveability problems involved?

So, no recall for manual transmission vehicles?

Hey Eric!!! Long time no see.

Anyways, I got the recall too and have scheduled for service. The dealer said that it will take a whole day to do it.
