BMW says tranny jerk normal

My Ride: 2008 550i sport SAT
2012 535i Xdrive msport
2007 550i Sport w/SMG (gone)
2000 528i (gone)
1991 535i (gone)
My car has been at the dealership since last Tuesday July 28th waiting for the Regional Tech 's diagnosis. Got a call back this morning from Service manager, he said that after the regional tech left his dealership he went to other dealership and drove several other 550 and said that all of them have the tranny jerkness when coming to a complete stop. Basically BMW is saying this is normal car operation and that all 550s have this "problem or symptom". All of you 550 owners with SAT please share your experience. Does your car come to a smooth stop or do all of you have this jerkiness when coming to a complete stop? Is BMW trying to avoid this problem? They basically said that no software update is gonna fix this. I am so pissed for having spent over $70K and have to live with this problem. By the way this information is coming from BMW NA Customers Relation.
Any insight or comment is greatly appreciated. I cannot believe that I am the only one with this problem.

I don't ahve an auto tranny to comment but I wonder if doing the tranny reset will help?

I have this problem too (fyi, i have a 545). a software update will somewhat soften the jerk-jerk stopping you're noticing but won't completely cure it nor will a tranny reset help either.

My '07 10/06 build transmission is as smooth as silk. What you describe BMW's rep as saying is certainly not the norm.

I have a 06 525xi with 42K on it and I've been thinking the same thing but could not tell if it's normal or an issue. I've put high performance shift kits in other cars in the past and this is about what they feel like but the BMW is much less harsh then those shifts. I'm no expert on this but the smoothness of an auto comes from slipping which is bad for the slush box. So with less slipping you gain performance and reliability but you lose comfort.

Did your '07 have the slam?
