There are OEM roof racks for the E60.

Call your dealer but find this link before that.

BET530:
I have used the BMW racks for over five years, summer and winter. They work great and are not expensive. imho. I use then for surfboards, snowboards and skis. If you open any door and run your hand along underside of the roof ridge, you will feel the indentation where the rack go. They work great.

The OEM is great! Nicely engineered, solid, fairly easy to install. I was lucky to pick up on eBay from a guy who had never used his.
