Default BMW Roadside Assistance vs. AAA

Hello all,

My BMW Roadside Assistance service is about to expire. I already have AAA for my other cars. Any reason to subscribe to BMW Roadside Assistance?

Thanks in advance!

How many times did you use the Roadside Assistance?

I believe there's no need for you to renew yours BMW roadside assisten policy if you have AAA it's basacly the same semrvice ad AAA I such more cheaper . I have AAA on my 5 Series and X5 and all pay is $ 13 dollars a month for service 24 hrs .

Good question -- I didn't use Roadside Assistance at all. I think of Roadside Assistance/AAA as breakdown insurance, though, in case something does happen to me on the road.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure whether the tow truck drivers that are contracted with BMW Roadside Assistance somehow had additional training or offered additional support. I will stick with AAA.

No need to renew Roadside Assistance when you already have AAA.
But your car came also with 4 years of prepaid BMW Assist (Safety Plan), which can be renewed for $199/year.

Just curious... What will AAA pay toward towing? Are there restrictions as to distance, miles, etc? Or will they pay the whole thing? I ask because just this week I shelled out $180 to have my car flatbedded about 10 miles.

I was also just considering added towing to my auto insurance. Any opinions?

Thanks -- I did renew BMW Assist -- the $199/year pays for vehicle location services, which gives me a discount on insurance.

It depends on which state you live in, I think. Here's a link that shows what the services are in California. Depending on your level of membership, AAA will tow your vehicle 5 to 200 miles for free: Membership Terms and Conditions | AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah

I like the coverage of BMW Assist and have been renewing it, but the extra charge for the stolen vehicle rider on my car insurance is so minimal that is not worth declining. Unfortunately no savings for me.
