Hi all,

I've been trying to make the BMW Online services work on my car (E60 04/2008) but I'm not sure I can actually have it. There are two main problems - I live in Belgium where the service is not available as such. However I drive quite a bit in Germany and Italy so I though I'll register myself there and at least when I'm there I can use it. I filled in the registration on the german site about 6 weeks ago - no answer whatsoever from BMW.
I don't have a password or anything for the service, I can't see the BMW Online tab even in the Comms menu.

My question would be if you guys, who have this up&running - do you have only the Pro Navigation and Bluetooth or you actually need the phone cradle and that kind of preparation for it, or what else?
Cheers

Hi, I have pro nav and blue tooth but the BMW Online works when my phone is not in the car. I assume the car must have a sim card in it, i got a text with a pass word after registering mine. I put the pass word in and it works fine, just a bit slow!!

If you didn't purchase the car in a market that supports it, how are you going to arrange to pay for the service?

In the UK you get it free with a new car for three years. The car does have its own sim and doesnt use your phone for data it does require BMW to activate it though and here at least you get a text to let you know your car is now online.

That's right but he didn't purchase the car in the UK now, did he? His location is listed as Belgium AFAIK.

Thanks for all the help guys - at least I know that I don't really need anything extra to have the service. I'll try to sort out the activation in Germany or in Italy and we'll see...
Thanks a lot again!

I know that I was just pointing out he probably doesnt have to pay for the service yet and it is available in other parts of Europe.

6 weeks with no feedback is nothing. I waited about 3 months and then one day I received an SMS text with my user name and password.

Ja, I understand. I'm fairly certain though that you have to have purchased your car in a market that supports the service to begin with to be entitled to use it even when visiting another area.

Still trying to get my BMW Online/Connected Drive sorted out on my 2008/07 525xd (bought in France). Both the dealership and the BMW Connected drive support people in France have confirmed that the car has everything needed... problem is that nobody (except the tech people in Munich) seems to understand how this all fits together (at least in France!) This is quite frustrating as the BMW Online function promises to be really useful.
