Very Interesting. Their is also a note on the demise of SMG as we know it. An improved version being developed.

I had a 1.8T Audi A4 as my last car and I loved having a turbo. It felt soooo goood when the temps were cool. I would bite.

YES, when the turbo starts spool, it is fun.....
I am still driving the A4 1.8T, and waiting for my 06 E60.

If you have driven the DSG, you will be impressed how much better than design is over BMW SMG (even better than the italy designed SMG on none-m car).

But the DSG is only available for Audi TT right? It would be cool if they have the DSG transmission for the upcoming RS4..

i wouldnt put too much into this story, sounds a bit off, imho... first off, there is no mention of the new 4.0 that makes ~306bhp... this engine is already available, and I would think that this would be the first additional offering to the E60/E63 to make up some of the room between the 530i and the upcoming 550i... i've never been a fan of turbos and would not look to one...

also, i think that they are off on what they say about SMG... ofcourse BMW will continue to refine this, but the entire new M-line is now based solely on SMG so if BMW stopped offering it, it would be an admission of failure, so I dont think they are correct in their statements, not to mention that the dealer guides show SMG as an option for the e90... i have also heard that the DSG system, while it may be somewhat smoother that SMG, has its own issues as well, and im sure there is a reason that this is only offered in a very limited way currently, not across the entire Audi range... jmho...

There were articles that hinted at this more than a year ago. At the time, all the EU people were screaming that it had to be wrong - that they had to mean diesel. Oh well, we'll see...
