So I'm doing an ED on an 06 530i. I know it comes with 4 years free maintenance, but is this free maintenance enough to properly maintain the car? Also, I plan to keep the car as long as possible, so is purchansing the extented maintenance contract worth it? or even the extended warrantly for that matter?
thanks

Do a search here on the maintenance contract and the warranty, it's been discussed plenty of times before. I would say yes, they're worth it if you are planning to keep the car for a long time. I plan to hold onto it for 10 yrs, and I plan to do 20k miles/year. You can purchase it before your existing expires, and a BMW plan (both) can be had before a certain number of miles...I believe someone said 15k. I plan to purchase mine after the first year.

I pay for an oil/filter service half way between the covered interval.
I bought an extended warranty for a car many years ago. It was my first Porsche (and I was stretching to buy it) and I decided that rather than risk an expensive repair after the warranty expired, I'd get an extended warranty and roll it into the loan. Well, the only time I tried to use the extended warranty, they said that part (motor mount) wasn't covered. I'll never buy another extended warranty again. Also believe in high deductibles on auto insurance. If you do the math, it's worth it to self-insure.

what are the options and how much would you end up paying for the extended warranty???

Extended Warranty and Extended Maintenance are two separate programs.
Back on topic, I think if can negotiate a lower amount for the extended maintenance and it covers Inspection II and another set of brakes, you come out ahead.

[/quote]I agree, and I had the same rationale. Yes, don't mix apples and oranges....extended maint vs. extended warranty.
