If they end the free maintenance, I would definitely shop around. I have always wanted a porsche, but heard the maintenance costs are really high. But if Bimmers are the same way, I would get the Cayman S I have had my eye on.

It might be a good selling point for some... but for me. I can count about 3 oil changes and 1 brake flush that was done under free maintenance. Everything else was under warranty. so that would be under $500 for maintenance... Doesn't matter all that much i guess. Unless BMW will start wanting "Inspections" every oil change otherwise if something broke and you didnt do their "inspections" they wont cover it under warranty. THEN that would suck. I know my Mom merc every year it needs a Oil change + "Inspection" or my old Lexus which needs a oil change every 5000 miles which comes out to $200 a pop. Dealers dont do any "inspections"...

Is this the Basic Service Inclusive program ? If so, in Norway we have to pay for it. I bought the BSI and addedd 5 years / 60.000 km " Free " service and maintainance.

I had a full brake job under the maintenance warranty, probably would have cost $1500-$2000. Plus oil and fluid changes. It can definitelly add up, I could have easily spent $3000 on maintenance.

I always see people saying their maintenance program is built into the prices of the car anyways, so maybe msrp's will go down. Wishful thinking.

yeah - us europeans are paying for it

a naked 550i (without any taxes) cost about USD 80k - if you had a few options, you top the 100k easily... Again, for apple to apple comparisions, i am taking the tax free numbers... obviously in some european coutries you can add another 30-40% tax on these numbers...

btw. we of course dnot get free maintenance

Please continue to buy more cars so they can keep the maintenanc eprogram going.....love yah!!!

I kinda think this may be because of the euro vs dollar conversion . I bet if it is drooped the prices will either stay the same or even go up. When Audi dropped it on the 07's the prices did not drop , and in fact went up a percentage or two across the board from model to model. I think they may have rearranged the options on the A4's and A3's , but basically you ended up paying more for less.

A full brake job with an independent mechanic would be much cheaper. 4 rotors and 2 set of pads purchased from a BMW dealer over the internet + labor would not be more than $600 for my 530 using my independent mechanic.
