A friend of mine said that he heard BMW was considering ending free maintenance either in 09 or after the 09s are introduced, I had not heard this so I am asking you guys.

Then I started to think, how many of us would not buy or lease a BMW if the maintenance was not included for the first 50 000 miles?

If BMW did not offer it, amd no other premium manufacture did either, then it just comes down to choice, but owning a car just became more expensive.

I wonder if we'll hear from customer relations about this again...

It would be unfortunate but I don't think I've ever had more than a couple of oil changes and all other issues were warranty ..............I would definitely shop around more as a result though.

Would not be surprised, but would find it unfortunate...let's hope it's just a "rumor". Warranty/maintenance was a tipping factor for me when switching from Audi to BMW. I just would rather not have to worry about paying for upkeep if needed on a BMW....

I'm thinking that they'll keep it alive -- especially since they're the only ones doing it. It's a huge selling point they have over M-B, Lexus, etc.

If anything, I can't figure out why the others haven't added a similar program back -- it makes too much sense...

Wow, that's very generous for you in the US. We have a 3 year warranty in the UK but no free maintenance. I've got a feeling that the only brand to offer free maintenance in the UK is Hyundai, but it won't be inducing me to change cars fast

The maintenance program is a nice feature as it is really convenient and in that aspect is a great selling point...but I don't buy it for one minute that its actually free. It's cost has to be built in somewhere in the overall manufacturing budget!

I'd buy a BMW regardless of free maintenance.

yeah - us europeans are paying for it

a naked 550i (without any taxes) cost about USD 80k - if you had a few options, you top the 100k easily... Again, for apple to apple comparisions, i am taking the tax free numbers... obviously in some european coutries you can add another 30-40% tax on these numbers...

btw. we of course dnot get free maintenance
