no, the dealer will have to update your software to add the input option

Well, if you have all the Jack and Aux shows up in the menu then this is the cable you need!

I think you can buy a cable on Ebay and program it yourself:

The software is in the DIY forum.

No this will not work.
1) you will need to change your vehicle order to have +NAUX if you do not have Aux option in your idrive. Look to spend about $300 or so to do this plus the cost of the cable which, that price you have is way too high. .... should be about $45 and is a shit cable which you'll probably have to cut apart to take out the resistors to get decent sound.
2) I could code it for you if you have the OBD cable.
3) If you did by the cable above and install youself, You'll have to take the pins/cables out of the X183 plug and insert them into your own. Sucks for something you pay for.

You need a male to male 3.5mm jack to plug into the audio output and into your phone. You will not be able to control iPod/phone from iDrive.

First of all we do not know what kind of car he has. This is a cheap chinese cable and I would never trust it or use it any programming or coding because I had a very bad experience with it. He may have a 2008 vehicle and if so he's using DCAN and not K, so this is important to note! There are plenty of BMW cables out there and they're not expensive... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-U...ht_7344wt_1165
