BMW extended warranty for 2010 E60
Hello,
I've just bought 2010 E60 with 45K from a non-BMW dealer.
The vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty. Is it possible to buy a BMW extended warranty for this car? Or are only new or certified cars are eligible?
Do I need to bother with extended warranty or E60 at all?
Thanks for any hints and thoughts.

how many miles and what model/specs? 528, 535, or 550?

I purchased my 2010 535i M-Sport from an non-BMW dealer and they offered an extended warranty for it. The price was a bit steep but it is "peace of mind" that I'm purchasing. If you plan on keeping the vehicle for some time, I would recommend that you purchase one. The cost of repair for these machines are higher than others so a little out of pocket now will save alot later in my opinion. Even if you don't use the extended warranty, the fact that it is there just in case is worth it to me.

My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.
If you decide to get a warranty I hear it makes a price difference if you secure this warranty before your current warranty expires.

@all: more details and the results of some research:
The vehicle is 2010 E60 535ix premium/sport/automatic black/black with 49Kmiles.
I got it for $27.2K at the action + action fee + delivery. Non-BMW dealer helped for a reasonable fee.
The same dealer offered CornerStone Auto extended warranty (non-BMW, covers pretty much everything but Navigation, entertainment, BT, etc) for another 4y/75K - about $4,5K
I went to BMW dealership today. Here is their respond (official):
- the car is eligible for BMW extended warranty, no inspection required if the original warranty is still on. after that - $200 for the inspection
- Gold coverage (again pretty much everything but navigation/entertainment) for up to 6y/100K (means another 3 years or 50Kmiles for me) - $4.5K
They told me that BMW warranty is no hassle - no extra approvals, same as the original warranty. I'm wondering whether it is true.

If you are still under factory warranty (check original in-service date, not just mileage), you can most certainly buy a BMW Extended Vehicle Protection plan. You can roll the dice with a 3rd-party warranty company -- some people have had good results, others not so much. I would recommend buying the BMW warranty for piece of mind. Because it's turbo-charged and AWD, the 535xi has more potential mechanical points of failure than a N/A RWD 5-series...I would def recommend an extended warranty.
You can buy the BMW Extended Vehicle Protection plan from any BMW dealer -- even out of state. I live in Florida, and purchased mine from Pacific BMW in California. I bought the "Gold" coverage for over $1000 LESS than what my local dealer was selling the plan for...plus saved on tax!
