My Ride: 02" Porsche Carrera 911
This is getting out of control, the new 530i in Egypt, BASIC SET UP is $120,000, it is nuts, i mean WHY? First of all the BMW Assembly plant is in Egypt, so there shouldn't be much import tax on the car!! The crazy thing is that these cars are ALL OVER THE PLACE, specially in Cairo!
I didn't even bother looking at the other ones either, they make the Security 5 there as well!

Here is a pic of my friends 1 series there,*you can see it in the back* this pic was in 2006, so they have had the 1 there for a while!

I guess this is not related to the germans... It is all about the high tax imposed by the egyptians

My Ride: 525d LCI - xenon, tv function,grey dakota leather,titanium silver,244 radial spokes.
Its the same situation in India too. I recently got the LCI 525d and paid over $110,000 USD , while the 530i cost $ 120,000. Although BMW has an assembly plant here, it feels shitty to pay more than the price of an M5 for a 525d(But the car does come fully loaded with Dakota leather,Xenon lamps,Run Flats,etc) 
And believe it or not, there is a looooong wait list for the 5 series....BMW India had a target of 1000 cars this year being their first, they were well over 1000 cars in 6 months itself (3 series + 5 series) Mercedes is facing stiff competition for the first time...although they are price around the same as BMW , they do not provide half the features that come standard on the BMWs.
And believe it or not, there is a looooong wait list for the 5 series....BMW India had a target of 1000 cars this year being their first, they were well over 1000 cars in 6 months itself (3 series + 5 series) Mercedes is facing stiff competition for the first time...although they are price around the same as BMW , they do not provide half the features that come standard on the BMWs.

The worst thing about BMW in Egypt, is within the first week you will at least get hit once and your gonna have scratches all over from cars hitting it while its parked..lol so much traffic its crazy

Same situation in India bro ... My car is one month old and someone scrapped it while it was parked ! Not much damage fortunatly, i managed to clear the paint by applying some rubbing compound.
