Hi, so around 5 months ago I baught a 2007 530i E60 with around 42k miles. And I'm absolutely in love with the car but as of recently it's been having some issues.
A couple of weeks ago it started having a very rough idle after a cold start, it was way worse when the car was on a slope facing downwards, the car started shaking and it almost seem like it was gonna stall. This issue disappeared once I started driving so I didn't thought it was very serious. I scanned the car and received a couple of errors asociated with rich running, exhaust camshaft over retarded, and oil pressure switch implaussibility. A couple of days later the car stalled on me while on a slope, the rpm's dipped and the car shut off, I inmediately turn it on again and received the low oil pressure warning which ptomptly disappeared. I checked the oil level on Idrive and it says it is full. Now I have my doubts about this sensor because last time I changed the oil (around 2500 miles ago) I got out arround 4.4L of oil out of 6.5L maximun and Idrive still told me it was full. I recently changed the oil pressure switch believing it may be faulty but I'm still getting this oil pressure warnings, they come for a second and disappear.
I've been trying to diagnose the vanos codes with INPA and discovered the exhaust camshaft angle was jumping around way off the setpoint value. tried swapping the solenoids and see if the fault followed the exhasut solenoid but the results where the same. This condition seems to disappear once i start driving and the car warms up, after a while the car feels normal, it doesn't jump into limp mode but I still sometimes get a low oil pressure warning when i go to a stop.
I'll try with an oil change and see the actual amount of oil in the engine because I believe it may be low.
So I wanna hear your thoughts about this.

So it turns out oil level was low and the oil level sensor is giving me an incorrect signal. Filled up the engine oil and now the vanos issue seems to be resolved. Will be buying a new sensor to replace the faulty one.
Unlucky me while I was getting the car out of my garage I hit the curb since the entrace is a little over the street level and damaged one of the power steering hoses loosing all the power steering fluid. So at the end of the day the car is staying parked for a while :/

I am a little bit lost. The first time you changed your oil, you got 4.4L out, and put 6.5L in. Then, in 2500 miles, your oil level is so low that it is causing the problems you are describing? Where is all the oil going to?
