Bmw e60 instrument cluster change
Good day mate,
My BMW E60 2004 instrument cluster got bad last week and i got another after market yesterday, after installing it. It's showing a dot at the Mileage. Can anyone help with the process of programming used cluster into my car because i couldnt get any information from the old cluster. Thank you.

The dot is called the "tamper DOT". It just indicates the mileage displayed may not be accurate because it was not originally from this car. It should display the highest mileage of either the original car or your own car. If the mileage you see is correct you can choose to ignore the tamper dot. If the miles is not correct, and you don't care, you can choose to ignore it.
It doesn't need "coded" but it will need to be "virginized" which makes the car think it is a brand new cluster when it is installed. Being brand new, it will accept the current miles from the car and not display a tamper dot.
The process requires removing the VIN and setting the miles to 0 on the used cluster

If I never plan to sell the car will the cluster work perfectly fine just switching it?
