Oh I made that conclusion. Im also wondering when you guys will start driving on the correct side of the road.

My Ride: 2007 530i, white/black manual, sports package, nav, PDC, etc.
I'm curious why the 535i (bi-turbo) won't make its way in to the 5 series sooner.

highly unlikely bmw will replace the new 3 litre for the bi-turbo 3 litre -so called- 535, because this is an entirely different setup
the regular 3 litre is part magnesium, the bi-turbo just aluminium, because the magnesium will not endure the pressure involved with the turbocharging (or at least they don't trust it to yet)
as the magnesium block is heralded as one of the big things in enginemanufacturing, it is highly unlikely they will drop this so soon after introduction. also the powergap to the 525 would be huge.
the only reasons to develop the bi-turbo 3 litre is that the 4 litre 8 cylinder doesn't fit into the (Z-)3 series enginebay and/or emissionregulation and/or pedestrian collisionprotection regulations, and that competition from audi, mb and lexus urges them to upscale were the 3 litre engine doesn't have the ability anymore to increase in displacement. so untill they develop an entirely new block with, lets say, 3.5 litre, they need an ad-interim.
p.s.: 525 and 530 in the US uses the same 3 litre engine with different electronics setup,
525 and 530 in the rest of the world have different displacement, 2.5 and 3 litre.
