Hi Guys

Still no joy. Had the pressure sensor from the DPF off today and measured resistance across the 3 terminals
pin 1+2=5kOhms
pin 1+3=10.72kOhms
pin 2+3= 6.48kOhms

I squirted some electrical cleaner inside and blew/sucked on the pipe (once dry of course) and measured the resistance again
pin 1+2=5kOhms
pin 1+3=Open circuit
pin 2+3=Open circuit

Fitted back to the car and turned over, again, after 5 mins DPF failure came upon the i drive. I've checked for error codes but this comes up with no faults. I locked the car and went back 5 mins later, this time without turning the car over (ignition on) i waited and eventually the fault displayed again. Surely this shouldn't be monitored unless the car is started! Really starting to get me down, especially after spending near £300 on stats and oil/heat exchanger. Please could someone offer advice?

Kind regards
Stuart

hi I have a 5 series 530d 2008 model .
on accessing the hidden menu I have a temperature read of between 66-73 depending how I drive .
also since the cold weather I keep getting dpf warning coming on after 10 minutes of driving.
The same happened in the cold months last year then the dog light disappears when weather warms up I was unaware of hidden menu last year so I did not check previous temperature.
any ideas as wether this is the dpf. Egr or thermostat ?

Your egr thermostat is toast and the main stat is likely bad too. While your cars running at those low temps your car hasn't been able to regerate and try and clean the DPF. If it's been a year or two like that you DPF won't be in a great state either.

You need to change the egr stat at a minimum but I would do both while your at it personally.

They are both fairly easy if you have a socket set. Use genuine parts and make sure that you drain the coolant so you don't soak the alternator when you remove the main stat.
If I remember rightly the rad shroud comes out and gives you quite a bit of room to get to them.
