Sorry to hear. There is some sort of crash breaker like a circuit breaker...i'm tired and dont remember the correct name but this is most likely your issue. It cuts all power to the car so there aren't any additional issues. Like a kill switch.

Can't tell what kind of car you have but it's an LCI unless you changed the lights. Can't really so the total damage so can't tell you if it's a total loss. Doesn't look like it especially it being an LCI and doesn't look too bad from first glance.

Its called Advanced Safety Crash Module. Page 3 of https://5series.net/forums/uploads/1...213_277305.pdf

Looks like this: http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/s/view.pl?1/11/22/35

Before you spend money on body work, take it to a good guy to make sure the electronics are all ok. The headrest and rear can be fixed, but the electronics will be a pain.

Ok I'll bite..

Was this your car or are you the one that hit it? If it's your car.. or even if not.. is there no insurance involved here? That looks really expensive to fix all of that and it might very well be totaled... especially if there is damage to the frame. Let me know if you want to pull that shadowline trim off.

The picture you provided shows the trunk lid in the open position. I cannot tell if it is sprung from the collision or is just open. There is a number of electronic modules in the trunk area. If there is an amount of water in the trunk, especially in the bottom of the trunk area, the water could cause damage running into the thousands.

Somebody hit you, did that much damage to your car, and NO insurance is involved........

Looks like several grand to get it fixed and if the unibody is damaged then it may never ride right. And it makes no sense to put a sport rear bumper on it without putting a front sport bumper to match - even more $$$.

Have the body shop strip it down to verify the unibody isn't damaged and then plan your rebuild process. Junkyards, Ebay, and Craigslist are the cheap options. Use www.realoem.com for parts diagrams.

If interested, I have some rear bumper frame parts left over from my M Aero Kit install I could sell. I even have an OEM LCI rear bumper available should you change your mind (but its a different color and in ATL. PM me if interested and good luck.
