exactly what i am saying - who would need a prius if you have a full valued car in a 318d with 143hp and a 0-60 in less than 10 seconds, and a average mpg of 56.....

In the UK the TV programme TopGear proved that driven round a race track with the Prius going as fast as it can and being followed by an M3 the M3 is more economical ! No need to buy a Prius then

Well worth watching.

Those pieces of **** cars cause more harm to the environment when they develop the batteries for them.

Its amazing how all kinds of cars are somehow always compared to a BMW, i guess that in itself is a testimony to how great of a car it is

oh man, reminds of the time when i saw a riced out, decaled out, wings the size of a jumbo jet'ed prius roll up next to me riding on 12"s and he tried to overtake me. So me and my friend were just pointing at him straight up laughing while he seemed to be gassing it, while i was just on cruise control

silly hippies, prius' are for suckas

I think the purpose of the congestion pricing discounts and in the US you can drive in the HOV lanes by yourself with a Prius or Honda Civic Hybrid and you get a $4000 IRS tax credit (better than a tax write-off) if you buy either, is to induce people to buy them. The increased sales will help manufacturers develop the Hybrid technology to a point where energy savings will be significant.
Remember diesel engines are over 100 years old and only now have we discovered that if we pee in them, emissions go down. Hybrids have a long way to go with technology development.
