BMW B5S E60 alpina BMW
#12
Yes i have one, i live near Sheffield, if any one wants a spin let me know, my friend has an M5, its nowhere near the Alpina in terms of acceleration, ease of use or comfort, people who drive Porsche or Astons dont recognise the B5S and cant understand it when you leave them floundering, it really is that good. i would have no hesitation in buying another when this has done 3 years, its now 12 months old and ive done 18,000 miles in it, ive given it some stick and it really does average 23 mpg, unlike the beamas ive had where ive got nowhere near their consumption figures.Ive had performance cars, many beamas but this has got to be the best car ive driven, its easy around town, its a monster when you want, its a full 5 seater, everything you could hope for and when you buy one you obviously dont look at the running costs but this thing is ridicolous, tax is 180 quid a year, my insurance is 500 quid, the Pilot tyres are nowhere near worn and its had about 2 litres of oil,you couldnt run a 520d as cheap. The only downside i suppose is that there are not that many new ones coming through and believe me when youve had one you will want another, forget the M5.

My old job just sold a B7 that was a recovered theft ( mirror missing and a couple of small things) for $22k. It was pretty. And yes it was a true alpina supercharged and all.

Yeah the B5 Is awesome... Definitely my favorite E60. I asked about this awhile ago and was told they don't import the B5's to the US that's why no one has one, not only that but even in europe they are hard to find... Someone should start importing these things!

My next e60 I really wanna go for the whole Alpina look. The only thing I'm missing is the front airdam - other than that, this look can be replicated pretty inexpensively.

The green car is stunning... colourwise. Love it so much!. As for the alpina look though, I would junk it. Horrible wheels, horrible stickers, horrible front spoiler. When will they learn one can't just stick the same old parts on any car. It has to match with the look of the donor car. Alpina in my opinion is a waste of money and anyone buying it buys it for one reason... to say they have something different and more expensive. Pity they never realise what it says about their mental capacity.
