I hang out on another website frequently and I'm always getting bashed because I have a big ass SUV (2002 Toyota Sequoia). I haven't told anybody there that I bought a new BMW because they'd probably rip me for that, too.

I personally don't care what other people think, I have 2 BMWs and love driving both of them, that the main deal. If people are critical of me, so be it, I have no control of what they think or say.

I wish I cared!

Seriously, if you care that much don't get one, or get what YOU want and get on with your life. I don't care what people think that are judgmental. They are the ones with the problem.

I stopped caring about what other people think a long time ago. Drive what you want.

I could not agree more! I just recently moved up from an E46 to an E60 and I have come to realize that as a 40-ish guy, I was out of place at E46fanatics. That is an oversimplification of course, because there are a lot of good members there. But this forum feels like it has more members like me - middle-aged BMW enthusiasts who understand where the "pimp" line is on mods.

In response to jet190rs, he is right about there being two groups. But anyone reading this forum on a regular basis (first thing every morning for me!) automatically falls into Group #1!

I love these cars and want only to drive BMW. I'm ready to pick up my 5th one and have been driving them for about 15 years. How do you deal with the perception that we who drive these fantastic cars are arrogant people with a high perception of ourselves, are yuppies and well, . . . you know the rest. I don't feel I'm any of these. Do I tell myself I just don't care what they think or is there another rationale you use? Sounds petty maybe, but in a way, it is important to me.
I quit the popularity contest in High School. Back then I fit in no where. You could say the same today and I love it.

I have a loving, honest and beautiful Fiance, two nice cars (Boxster and 530i) , and a wonderful home.
