My 2007 E60 will be 4 years old in May. My veh came equipped with 4 years of BMW Assist included in the sale price.
I am now receiving renewal info with pricing of $199 a year + tax. Seems a litle steep for a service I've never needed (knock on wood).
I am a member of AAA and my auto insurance also includes Roadside Assistance as well. Not too sure I'm gonna renew the BMW ASSIST....
Anyone have any thoughts on the subject ?

Only the "Safety" plan is included with the vehicle under the warranty period. This includes the emergency services, roadside maint, vehicle tracking/recovery etc. The "Convenience" plan is an additional fee and includes all the concierge type of services.

Once the warranty expires, it's $199/yr for the safety plan, then an additional $199 for the convenience plan. Steep IMHO...

-It works in areas that cellphones may not.
-If it senses a crash the operator will automatically send EMS to your cars location if you don't respond.
-Door unlock service is PRICELESS
-I always get contacted by my dealership within 24 hours whenever an automatic or manual service request is sent
It's the convenience plan I'm on the fence about since they no longer make financial transactions at your request (I once used them to book a weekend vacation that friday afternoon while driving home from work).

hmmm really? my 2005 545 uses a motorola phone that came with the car(wirzon wireless I believe) to connect to an operator and when I'm in an area where my iphone gets no signal, this motorola doesn't either. I'm not sure how your cellphone won't work but your car does.

I don't know how we can lock our fobs in the car though. Unless another fob was used to do so. Not to mention that (not sure if this is a standard for LCI) if you leave your fob in the ignition, the driver's door will (automatically) not close fully.

true, it's nearly impossible to lock yourself out these days. Only way I can think of it for my e60 is, leave the key in the car then open the passenger door, press the lock button, then get out through the passenger door and shuts the door. I'm not sure even this will work though as I never hit the unlock/lock button while a door is open before.
