My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Sport Carbon Black Metallic/Cream Beige Manny tranny and other stuff Recently gone, but never forgotten: 2005 Ford Mustang GT (hence the name) Torch Red/Crimson Manny tranny and every option available for that year 2002 Chrysler 300M Special Brilliant Black/Light Taupe/Dark Slate Autostick and goo-gobs of neat features that I will sorely miss

My free BMW Assist will be running out next month. (It's only the first year free, right?) Are there any real benefits to keeping it? I don't use concierge, turn-by-turn, etc. Will I lose any iDrive functionality by not having it?

Same here. I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

That's good enough for me! Didn't think it had a real purpose...

Thumbs down

Your iDrive won't be affected ... but Assist is idle unless you need it! When you do ... you might really miss it!

"On suitably equipped 2007 and later models, the BMW Assist Safety Plan is part of Ultimate Service, included at no cost for 4 years from your BMW's in-service date."

When I used to live in the middle of nowhere I thought this would really be a good feature, especially with kamikaze deer on lonely roads. Oh for a stretch of lonely road....

Think it was only 1 year free on 05's

Isn't it also useful for Kamikaze drivers north of Exit 9?
