Bmw 545i suspensión height changed after replacing strut mounts and struts
I was wondering if your suspension height goes up by 2 inches higher when you install new oem strut mounts and new struts at the same time, the ride height changed compared to the original height the car came with
this is the new ride height after changing the struts and strut mount
strut mount brand is lermforder
strut brand is beilstein
The second picture is the car a while back before suspension was blown in the car and had all original suspension parts and it was driving like a dream
If anyone knows any knowledge or what i did wrong to get the car to this ride height and how to correct it, help!!

I assume you got the "loaded strut", including a new spring. Any time you replace the springs, you take a chance that you're going to change the ride height. Theoretically, if the springs / strut are spec'd for the car it won't - but in reality I doubt that the strut manufacturers really take into account all the differences between submodels, so your car may end up with a different ride height. That's why I always reuse the springs unless there's a problem with them (well, that and I'm cheap). ;-)
Don't know what you can do to fix it other than to pull the struts out and reinstall your original springs on them (or maybe contact Bilstein to see if they might be able to send you springs that will correct the problem).

I did the strut replacement on a budget and wanted to keep the stock ride height so i re used the spring from the previous strut so i was taking a guess maybe it would be the strut it’s self

I went with Sachs struts, mounts and bellow kit a couple months back and my ride height stayed the same at least from what I can see. I did all 4 corners and couldn't be happier. I don't see how changing just the struts would change the height unless it was loaded. Maybe give it a few days to settle. Did you set the mount nuts the same when you put it back together (I don't know just throwing pointless things out there).

I'm kind of at a loss to explain it too... Assuming the struts were the right ones (maybe a faulty assumption?) the "loaded stack height" using the old springs should be the same. Maybe you could measure your old and new struts, from the center of the lower bushing to the spring perch to see if it's (radically) different.
Did you notice anything remarkably different about the strut mount design?

It’s not the strut that determines the ride height. It’s the spring. I don’t remember exactly how is that done in E60. Just done replacement in my Z4. I also done them in my F90 M5. Ride height stays the same. There’s a specific orientation of the spring in relation to where it sits against the strut plate. If this isn’t right the ride height will change. There’s no way strut changes ride height. Just think of it this way. You can press the strut shaft in with your hand…

I know the strut shouldn't affect ride height, but if somehow the OP ended up with the WRONG struts, it certainly can (which is why I suggested measuring the new strut from the perch to the lower bushing). Given the fact that the original springs were reinstalled, it's kind of hard to imagine anything else being the issue, unless the spring was installed incorrectly, or a grossly different style of strut mount was used.
