bmw 530d says increased emissions

Hi my car has atarted to say "increased emissions" please take to a bmw garage.
When i fill the car up it is ok, when there is only 1/4 tank left this message comes up.
But since i have brought the car i have filled it up atleast 7 times and this message has only come up 4 times so it is intermitted.
Does any one have a idea what this could be or why it only happens some times, will this affect my car in any way.

I had similar problem recently, I tried redex injector cleaner 2 weeks ago and havent had any messages since.

I had an "increased emissions" error and the dealer replaced the O2 sensor. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem with our cars.

i currently have this problem.. diagnostic says it could be a bad thermostat... is there anything easy i should try before buying that part.. anybody know or could help???? well appreciated
