Default blue smoke at startup

Hello everyone, I have a 2005 e60 545i, last month I had done a valve cover gasket replacement, everything seemed fine, but then a week later, I started to get blue smoke at startup every morning but then 2 weeks ago it stopped. Now today, it came back and it lasts longer. Can anyone please help me as to why this may be happening? The car has 99,998 miles on it.

Sounds like a quick fix in lieu of what you really need; a complete valve job. (seals, guides, etc.) Pretty basic, but god-awful expensive.

Yea when I did mine on my old 545i it came up to $4500 between parts and labor and a few other things I addressed..

+1 on the CCV. My 530 did the same thing, huge cloud of white/blue smoke on startup. With the car running it, the suction in the crankcase was so high I almost couldn't remove the oil filler cap. New CCV and 4 hoses later, no more smoke.

Can't chime in on the motor for the 545i vbut I know I would never buy but an M54 from knowing BMW. sounds like you're burning oil. If you did a valve cover replacement, it could be just oil burning off and let it burn for a while. It will happen. Don't worry about it right now.
