Blizzaks on 19s?
I was looking to sell my oem style 172s (staggered) and pick up dedicated Summer (Forged 20s) and Winter (straight 18s), but I see that there are several blizzak options for the 19s. I have an '08 535i m-tech sport.
Where it gets confusing is that I am running stock 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rears, but these exact sizes do not seem to be available.
I am seeing 235/35R19, 245/40R19, 255/35R19, 255/40R19, 255/50R19, 265/35R19 275/35R19 275/45R19 on tire rack and really unsure what will work without speedo being out of whack.
I realize the straight set up would be better, as narrower tread works better in the snow, but if I can keep the 172s as a winter, this would be much more pleasing to the eye. Could always try to source two 8.5 front 172s and run a straight set up if 19" blizzaks are indeed viable.
If anyone has tried this, would love to know what sort of results you've had? We also have an MDX, so I'd really only need to drive in the snow if absolutely necessary. I commute by train M-F and the car will be "chillin" in my heated garage.
Thanks!

Honestly? While I appreciate that you're looking to keep and use your 19" wheels, I have to say that if winter road maintenance in your state is anything like mine, you may have some problems in your future.
Potholes always magically appear in the winter, they can sometimes be hard to see with snow on the road, and they never get fixed until the following summer. So from experience (broken wheels I've had to replace) I've always looked to go -1" on wheel size for dedicated winter wheels(maybe even -2" for our cars) in order to get more rubber. That extra sidewall height really does help adsorb a lot more shock from potholes that might otherwise break your wheel, and even with winter studless snow tires, the rubber gets harder in the cold.
So... with that in mind I'll trade you for your 172's for my 138's
