So evidently the rear alignment of my 545 has been off... I bought the car in July and today I totally blew out a rear tire - the inside edge of the right rear was nice and chewed up and actually seperated... anyway, I had recently replaced a front right and will most likely need 2 new rear tires since both were on their last treads anyway... I am thinking I should just go Hancook Ventus v12 evo's all around instead of runflats at $400 per tire... but the fact that I recently dropped the $400 for the front right is bothering me... what would you do?
In sum: One replaced less than 500 miles ago($400 later) and now at least one (more likely 2) needed...
Replace all 4 and get away from runflats and eat the $400 I spent a couple months ago or just get the 1-2 runflats I need?
Maybe I can sell the fronts since one is almost brand new and the other looks like it is as well?

But $400
Where are you shopping?? Better try TireRack and get them installed by one of their "recommended" shops in your area. Check the link in my signature for additional rebates and coupons ...

My Ride: 2008 BMW 550 -- Dinan Stage 1 (fully loaded)
--------------------------------------------
1. Dinan Free Flow Exhaust
2. Dinan High Flow Intake
3. Dinan Stage 3 Software
4. Dinan Shock Braces
5. Dinan Strut Braces
6. Dinan Throttle Body
7. Dinan Stage 1 Suspension
8. Black kidney grills
9. HRE Performance Rims (P40s in textured black)
10. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires
I'm a huge fan of Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 on my 2008 550 - Dinan S1. Quiet ride, very good handling in warm weather and uniform wear. I recommend getting a full alignment on your car and then putting 4 new tires all around. Having a blowout is scary and I wouldn't risk it -- new rubber all around.

That sux ... similar situation happened to me when a pothole took out a tire when the car had only 10K miles. I replaced the one and now that set is my summer driving wheel / tire combo. If you have the alignment sorted out an like the RFT's I'd say shop for one replacement and wear out the set.
But $400

Sell the runflat and go with Hankook, Conti or ANY OTHER NON RUNFLAT tire. Runflat's cannot be repaired and ride rough, when I blew a runflat, I took one look at the price...$400 per tire and that was all the convincing I needed. I got 4 new Hankooks for $700+ and the ride was MUCH BETTER! I have a compact spare so a runflat isn't needed.

Thanks for all your opinions! I am ditching the runflats and I bought a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS's... 4 brand new tires for less than the price of 2 new runflats($435 rear each and $386 front each). The reviews by consumers and professionals like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, TireRack etc were just too good to ignore. I was really leaning towards the Hankook V12's but I live in the Northeast and like the idea of running a performance tire that is also an all weather tire... The run flats were just way too expensive - and for some reason my car came with a spare so I dont feel I am sticking myself out here.
I got the last 2 rear Continental Extreme Contact DWS's Tire Rack had and they said they dont expect a shipment anytime soon. I got the fronts from Discount Tires Direct and have to say, the free shipping from them is a bonus and their prices were just as good as TireRack. I would have gotten all 4 from there but they only had the fronts and TireRack only had the rears...
I will have 2 front runflats (one BRAND NEW and the other probably no more than a couple thousand miles on it) for sale... the size is 245/40/18 - Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST RunOnFlat so PM me if interested. They should be off my car by the end of next week and I will take pictures to post.
