welp, I'm not sure how to remedy this problem, I just returned from running an errand and to my surprise my idrive screen did not turn on (no radio/controls/screen). It stayed blank/off all the way back to my house, a good 15 minutes.

When I arrived home I turned the vehicle off then on and nothing changed. I'll let it sit in the garage for another hour or so before trying again.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone?

 

Idrive shutting off and rebooting isn't new, but that long is suspect...

 

yeah, I've read past threads about the idrive screen staying blank for 1-3 minutes, I'm hoping it resolves itself.

 

It seemed to have resolved itself, It just came on. I really don't mind rare glitches. I'm just happy I didnt have to visit the dealer.

 

Now you just need to watch it and hope it doesn't happen again...

 

Ours would stay blank for hours and hours at a time.

 

My IDrive screen has a red pixel drop-out in it. It is anoying most of all.

What do you guys think, should I have them replace it? I just can't believe someone doesn't quality check for something as obvious as that....

 

Lots of people have been having problems with the missing pixels. Your dealer should replace it under warranty.

Did you try pressing the Controller down once ? - sometimes I get a blank for a few seconds and this simple action switches the screen on. Also were there an characters at all on the bottom of the screen or was it truly blank ? If it's completely blank it sounds like a boot up problem (this has been seen before).

 

I tried pressing every key related to the idrive, includiing the controller. It stayed blank with no characters on it at all. Hopefully it des'nt happen agian.
