I know what I'm getting: 530i with black interior, lots of extras, not going for sport, but I can't decide whether to go with Metallic black or Jet black. I have only seen the metallic but wonder what those in the know prefer. thanks.

Look up this thread Need help with Nasca vs Dakota choice for discussion about color. You need to see both in person to make a choice.

Definitely look at both in person. I've had both. Be sure to look at them clean and a little dirty. Metallic black is not as dark, but is a much better dirt color - hides swirls, fingerprints etc. much better than jet black. IMO nothing looks better than a really clean, waxed jet black though.

Jet Black is black and Black Sapphire Metallic is some other color. Wolverine is right - metallic hides imperfections better and Jet Black takes a commitment to look its best.

I concur with both Wolverine and ULtraPLanet. Wax on, wax off! I don't regret choosing Jet Black. California Duster -> Mothers Showtime Instant Detailer -> microfiber (Never use chamois) for light dirt pickup, turning cloth often and lightly polish area. Do this between washing.

ULtraPLanet,
Your side picture of your grill look interesting. Looks like you modified the grill. What did you do? I looks pretty good. Can you post the picture?

Thanks my530i. It's just an interesting play of the light and shadow, no mods.

You can see more of my Jet Black pictures here.
