My Ride: '05 545i, silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, electric rear sunshade, folding rear seat, satellite radio prep, PIAA 4150K fogs, red rear reflectors, hardwired Valentine One
I got perspective view a few months ago when my CIP was upgraded, and while it's cool to look at, I find it less useful when using nav, because it doesn't show street names.

I agree, but on the screen displayed in this thread, there are street names. I cannot find an option for names in the menu. Anybody know how?

When perspective view first came out, people seemed to rave about it.
I think it's sooooooooo overrated. Who needs clouds? I can see those. And I know the horizon is curved too.
Street names would be way more useful. Just my opinion though.

My Ride: 2013 535i (White with Oyster Interior. Premium Package, Navigation, Technology Pacakge, Park Distance Control, and Rear View Camera)
I use the "Map facing North" view when I really need to check the directions. And perspective view when I already know the directions but enjoy having my NAV turn on.

Perspective is what Apple call "eye candy". Great to look at. I don't know about weather features but stars at night and a dark sky would look good! 
The more I get to understand the prof nav the more intuitive I think it is. I am not one for instruction manuals so it just means I get a new discovery every now and again. My current fav is the choose destination by map, very clever.
