So I nailed a pretty huge pothole the other day doing 80mph. Too late to swerve and ended up hitting it directly on the right side....front and rear. Noticed a vibration after wards so I took it to the dealer to get a 4 wheel balance to see if that would fix it. They said both the front and rear right side wheels had a slight bend, but not bad, and that the balance should take care of it, which it did not. Anyway, I noticed they only did a "Static" balance where there is only 1 weight per wheel on the inner most surface behind the wheel face instead of a "Dynamic" balance where there are 2 weights per wheel.....one inner and one outer, which is suppose to be a better balance overall.
Just curious if anyone knows if all dealers have the same wheel balancers and if they have the ability to do dynamic balancing?

Thanks

I think after such impact you might wanna have it balanced w/ Hunter Road Force equipment to get the best ... my dealer uses that and all my weight are behind the spokes.

Yeah...there is a place in town that has a Hunter Road Forced machine..so I may go there.
Maybe I explained wrong above.....all of my weights are behind the spokes....but only one on each wheel, which are right behind the spokes(inner)........not an additional one at the back edge of the wheel(outer), which is a Dynamic balance and is a more accurate balance than a single weight, static balance.
So your dealer has a Road Force machine....hmmm

A "slight bend" ... is that like being a little pregnant? Hitting a cave at 80mph is horrible. If you are in a position to do so, and if it were me, I'd have the wheels inspected carefully (checking for stress cracks) and trued up. Most wheel specialists will do that for about $100/per or less including remount of the tire and a good dynamic balance.

Yeah exactly.......
I just found out that my dealer does have a road force machine....now I just need to call my SA and see if that's what they used. Maybe time to get the wheels trued up as mentioned

Probably doesn't help that the dealer put 40psi in all the way around. Jesus....quite a bit more than I run, which is 35 rear/ 30 front

Heading north on 459 leaving the Galleria....either right before the i65 overpass or right after it....in the center lane I think.
It was probably 5 inches deep, and about 2 ft dia. Sucker was huge! The car in front of me didn't dodge it, and I was riding to close...so when I saw it, I tried to dodge it, but ended up smacking it dead on. Got to love Alabama roads

On a side note.....good meeting you the other day at the IRL. You must of gotten there early on Sat/ Sun as you had the same spot both days, and were there already when we got there. What a nightmare getting out of there on Sun.

You may be able to get the state to pay for that. I was talking to an instructor at the Performance Center a while back who had the same issue in NJ; she complained to the state and told them to pay for a new wheel, and they did.
