Parking car today I was reversing up to 4 course std brick wall and watching the display screen. The PDC didn't pick it up at all only realised I was close when car hit it. Fortunately only the tail pipes touched so no damage at all. I always thought PDC picked up everything but obviously not! I don't know what you guys do but I tend to rely on the system without looking - not any more!

Beware all

Sorry to hear.

Could have been worse I guess.

When you say 4 course, I assume you mean the wall was 4 bricks high?

I would expect PDC to pick it up from about a metre away, but as you get closer the angle may be too wide & hence no red markers on idrive screen. Did you hear some initial beeping & then silence before impact?

Thanks MtD. I tend to look, but still your info is good to have. I am glad your car wasn't damaged beyond the tail pipes.

The wall may have been just 3 bricks high as it only hit the pipes (notice I'm blaming the wall) but non the less I would have thought the sensors would have a wider range and pick this sort of hazard up. There were no beeps or markers on the screen. My fault for being too reliant on the system.

That's strange, my PDC seems to detect kerbs most of the time

It would also be nice if the system would be automatically on when approaching something in front of the car. I have had a couple of times when parking and approaching those concrete or asphalt barriers, that the bottom of the front bumper scraped the barrier before I was aware of it.

Sorry to hear about your muffler tips. I always wondered how high the PDC is able to sense. I've heard they are unable to detect curbs. I guess I can test it sometime.

I damaged my bumper when backing up in a garage towards a rectangular concrete support. I was at an oblique angle and the beams missed the closeness of the triangular edge. It did a nasty gouge vertically across the bumper. I eventually had that damage fixed on a dealer visit. Dent-Pro charged $450 but it looks as good as new. How do they do that?

Yes i had the same problem.I was backing up and there was a like a curb behind me and that was like 2 brick tall at the most. PDC diddnt notice it at all. I realise when the curb hit my rear tires
